Hayden Panettiere’s mother reportedly pinned the blame for her daughter’s death on Brian Hickerson. Vogel dished to NBC News: “This person in her life that we have been trying to get rid of for quite some time was with her at her death and that was Brian Hickerson.”
Vogel also lavished praise on her daughter, stating: “I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments. I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle, and it’s a very challenging industry, and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path.”
The Heroes fame star was found unresponsive by Brian’s brother Zach when he entered the South Carolina residence. As per a report by TMZ, Zach discovered her sitting on a chair while his brother Brian was sleeping in another room. The brothers reportedly contacted 911, and the first responders were dispatched to the residence.
The medical team attempted life-saving measures on the Nashville star. Despite their best efforts to resuscitate her, Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. on August 16.
The Scream star previously shed light on her strained relationship with her mother, who served as her momager through her childhood. However, the late actress cut professional ties with her mother when she was 19. Panettiere revealed to Us Weekly: “Unfortunately, we don’t have a relationship right now. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t leave the door open for the opportunity to present itself one day. It’s hard for me to say, but I’ve chosen to be brutally honest.”
