Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson are preparing to compete together on Dancing With the Stars. However, Carson’s pregnancy has sparked speculation that producers expect Rodriguez to leave the competition early. The comedian has now responded to that theory.
Guillermo Rodriguez says he wants to go ‘all the way to the finals’ with Witney Carson
According to Just Jared, Rodriguez addressed the speculation during Rosie O’Donnell’s Aug. 19 guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He also made it clear that he hopes to reach the Dancing With the Stars finale.
Rodriguez said, “That’s not going to happen because I’m trying my best and I’m working hard and I want to go all the way to the finals.”
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick also revealed that rehearsals have been “very tiring” and that he is learning things “little by little.” Rodriguez added that his first dance with former DWTS winner Carson will be the cha-cha.
Carson is currently pregnant, which led some fans to speculate that producers paired her with Rodriguez because they do not expect him to stay in the competition for long. According to the theory, an early elimination would allow Carson to finish her season sooner and focus on her pregnancy.
However, Rodriguez clearly has other plans. He intends to work hard and make a deep run in the competition with Carson.
Dancing With the Stars Season 35 will kick off with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Rodriguez and Carson have already joined the new season. Good Morning America will reveal the full celebrity cast and professional pairings on Sept. 2.
