Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Hit With Brutal Reality Check Over Hollywood Dreams — Expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry faced a fresh Hollywood reality check after “Cookie Queens” struggled in theaters. The Duchess of Sussex and the Duke served as executive producers on the Girl Scouts documentary. However, a PR expert claimed their “fundamental problem” was turning attention into demand. The report said the movie opened outside the weekend top 10, despite the couple’s global name recognition and continued media pull.

As per The Express US report, “Cookie Queens” debuted at Sundance in January. The documentary then opened theatrically on August 7. It followed four American Girl Scouts competing to become the top cookie seller. Media expert Michael Levine said the result showed “celebrity recognition alone cannot create a successful brand.” He added that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “generate enormous attention” but often struggle to turn curiosity into “consumer loyalty.”

Meanwhile, Levine said fame was only the first step in Hollywood. He said, “Fame gets people to look once.” However, he added that “trust, quality and consistency” made audiences return. The expert said the Sussexes had “extraordinary name recognition.” Still, he warned that recognition was not the same as “commercial demand.” According to the report, Box Office Mojo listed “Cookie Queens” at $327,797 globally after launching in 446 theaters.

However, the numbers added more sting to the Hollywood setback. The report said “Cookie Queens” trailed “CatVideoFest 2026,” which earned $568,414 worldwide from 255 theaters. Levine advised the couple to “disappear professionally for a little while.” He also urged “discipline” and “patience” before choosing one strong project.

Before release, Meghan said she had a “personal affinity” for the film as a former Girl Scout. She also praised its “edgy yet humanizing tone.” Still, Levine concluded that “the marketplace” had delivered “a blunt verdict.” For Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, he said royal titles could open doors, but could not make people “reach for their wallets.”
