NASCAR’s Kyle Busch’s Widow Speaks Out: ‘I Wish God’s Plan Looked Different’

Samantha Busch is continuing the charitable work she built with her late husband, Kyle Busch, while navigating life without the NASCAR champion.

Three months after Kyle’s death, Samantha accepted the Seeds of Hope Award on behalf of their Bundle of Joy Fund. The recognition centered on the couple’s work helping families access fertility treatment.

During the Carlos Rodón Foundation’s Third Annual Willow Gala on August 24, Samantha acknowledged how different the moment felt without her husband beside her.

“I never imagined I would be standing here accepting this award without Kyle,” she told attendees.

She then spoke about the difficulty of maintaining the work they created together.

“Losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my life,” Samantha said. “And if I’m being truthful, there are still so many things I don’t understand and so many times I wish God’s plan looked different than it does.”

Samantha explained that continuing the Bundle of Joy Fund gives her a way to remain connected to Kyle. The couple created the organization after experiencing infertility themselves.

“Every grant we give, every positive pregnancy test, every heartbeat, every baby placed into the arms of parents who wondered if that moment would ever come, Kyle is still a part of that,” she said.

She also reflected on how she hopes people remember the NASCAR star beyond his career. Samantha said Kyle’s legacy lives through their children, as well as racing and the family’s charitable work.

“But I hope this is part of how people remember him, too: Not just for the champion he was, but for his heart, his generosity, and for the more than 113 babies born because of this mission he cared so deeply about,” Samantha said.

The gala raised more than $1 million to expand access to IVF and fertility treatments. Samantha thanked Ashley and Carlos Rodón for supporting the same cause.

Kyle died May 21 at age 41 after severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis.

Samantha first addressed his death publicly on June 5, when she thanked relatives, friends, fans, and strangers for supporting her family.
