Jax Taylor is speaking out after Brittany Cartwright obtained a temporary restraining order against him. The reality TV star acknowledged that he made mistakes during a challenging time in his life. However, he strongly disputes some of the abuse allegations against him. Jax also questioned why claims involving incidents from years ago surfaced now.
Jax Taylor says he was shocked by allegations that occurred more than two years ago
Taylor wrote on his Instagram Stories Friday, Aug. 28, “I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I’m truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for.” However, he insisted that period does not define the man he is today. Jax sought help and entered treatment for his addiction. He said he is now 21 months sober and remains committed to therapy and improving his mental health.
The former Vanderpump Rules star said, “I was shocked to see claims about alleged incidents from over two years ago being brought up now.” He specifically questioned why the claims surfaced now. Jax said no one filed police reports or brought criminal charges against him over those alleged incidents. He further stated that he “strongly dispute[s]” some of Brittany’s claims.
Jax said the court will eventually review the complete story, context and evidence surrounding the claims. He also stated that he will follow the court’s directions and respect the legal process. Earlier, Brittany obtained a temporary restraining order against Jax on Thursday. In a court filing, she outlined an alleged years-long pattern of abuse.
Brittany accused Jax of making threats, physically attacking her and destroying property. She also claimed that he once threatened to “gut” her “like a f*cking fish.” According to the filing, she alleged that Jax threw furniture during a 2024 fight and left her with a badly bruised knee. For now, Jax said he will let the legal process address the disputed allegations while taking responsibility for his past mistakes.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Jax said his focus remains on his sobriety and personal growth. He also wants to be the best father possible to the former couple’s 5-year-old son, Cruz. The reality star said he hopes to move forward in a healthy and responsible way.
