Travis Kelce Picks 2025 Chiefs Over 2024 Chiefs For This Reason

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce believes the 2025 squad is stronger than their recent worse record suggests and even better than last year’s AFC championship team. The tight end made the case during the November 19 episode of New Heights, where he and Jason Kelce broke down the Chiefs’ frustrating start and why they still feel confident about the stretch ahead.

During the episode, Jason Kelce posed a hypothetical that immediately put them in debate mode. “Let me ask you this,” Jason said. “This is what’s crazy about the NFL. If this year’s Chiefs team played last year’s Chiefs team, who wins?”

Travis Kelce didn’t hesitate. “I’m taking this year’s,” he said, prompting Jason to agree. According to Jason, “Somehow, you guys are better, but you’re sitting at 5-5. You’re just not being you’re you’re not executing as well at the end of games, which is very uncharacteristic for Pat [Mahomes] and what you guys have been, obviously, last year.”

The Chiefs’ inconsistency has defined their season so far. Sunday’s last-second loss to the Denver Broncos was their fifth one-score defeat of the year. By contrast, the 2024 Chiefs went 12-0 in games decided by eight points or fewer.

Kansas City’s most recent setback came right after their bye week. Despite Kelce scoring a third-quarter touchdown and breaking the franchise touchdown record earlier in the game, the Chiefs fell on a last-second field goal.

For Travis, the issues aren’t about talent. “It feels like it’s all self-inflicting,” he said on the podcast. “And it feels like the answers are right there in front of us, and we just gotta f—ing do it.” After the game, Travis made it clear that personal achievements mean nothing amid the team’s struggles. “If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now,” he told reporters.

With seven regular-season games remaining, Kelce believes the Chiefs still control their future.
