In Season 16 of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Angela Oakley entered the Bravoverse, ready to throw shade and keep herself cool with her trusty fan. Meanwhile, her husband, Charles Oakley, seemed a little more reluctant about reality TV. Sure enough, by the end of the season, he wound up getting dragged into a cheating rumor. Welcome to Bravo!
Angela and Charles just wrapped filming for RHOA Season 17, so we’ll see where the couple stands today. In the meantime, Angela is looking back on the nearly daily arguments they had when filming their rookie season.
Angela and Charles Oakley will return for a second season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta
The RHOA couple traveled to Las Vegas for BravoCon 2025, where Angela spoke to Us Weekly. During their conversation, she revealed how Charles had a hard time wrapping his head around all of the drama of Season 16.
“We argued every day,” Angela admitted. “Charles was like, ‘What are you doing? Why are you taking so long to go off on this person who says this? Why do you even want to be this person’s friend?’”
“I’m like, ‘Charles, this is a friend group. Friendships heal quick in this group. You have to get over it,’” Angela recalled.
That was probably easier said than done for Charles. The couple already navigated a separation years ago. Then, RHOA Season 16 exposed cheating rumors and the couple’s financial strife. So, when it came time to sign on the dotted line for Season 17, the retired NBA star wasn’t necessarily thrilled.
Angela confessed, “Charles did have his reservations about coming back, but he supports me and he shows up for me, so he’ll be here along for the ride.”
