Thanksgiving might be all about pigskin and plates stacked sky-high. However, Travis Kelce isn’t shy about calling out the one dish he’d gladly see disappear from the table.
As always, the chat went off the rails in the best way, with jokes flying and “definitions” getting made up on the spot.
Travis Kelce shares his least favorite Thanksgiving side dish
During the podcast, one fan asked which traditional side dish Travis would eliminate forever: stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, or dessert. After briefly weighing the stakes, Travis admitted he would cut stuffing from the Thanksgiving lineup.
“I would probably say stuffing,” he said, before doubling down with, “I’m just not a stuffing guy… not a stuffing or dressing guy, however you want to call it.”
Before settling on stuffing, Travis gave mac and cheese a quick thought, but that was instantly off the table. He needs his cheesy fix. If mac and cheese disappeared, he said he’d just swap in cheesy potatoes or potatoes au gratin, anything melty and creamy.
For him, the cheese factor is essential, especially when he’s building his signature mini Thanksgiving sandwich on a Hawaiian roll.
“You’re going to have macaroni and cheese. I need something cheesy, so the potato has got to be cheesy. If we’re taking the mac and cheese out, we’ve got to go with cheesy potatoes. Potatoes au gratin.”
Travis continued, “There you go. I’m in on any of that cheesy potato-ness. I’m in. I just need something cheesy. I need to make a sandwich with my Hawaiian roll, and I need cheese on that sandwich.”
The Kelce brothers then got into a playful debate about “stuffing” vs. “dressing.” Jason Kelce questioned whether they’re actually different. This prompted the duo to talk through the technical definitions. Eventually, the duo agreed that stuffing cooks inside the turkey, while the dressing is prepared separately.
“Stuffing is a bread mixture while inside the cavity of the poultry, while dressing is a similar mixture, cooked separately,” Travis confirmed.
Even with all the joking around, Travis was clear that the cheesy sides stay, while stuffing’s out. Jason didn’t weigh in on the axe, but he played along with his usual humor, making for that classic Kelce sibling banter fans love.
