Why Erika Kirk Cited Taylor Swift for Charlie Kirk Funeral

Erika Kirk wanted to ensure her husband left a lasting legacy that would outduel even the biggest celebrities. That was the goal ahead of her husband Charlie Kirk’s funeral service after he was assassinated during a speaking engagement in Utah in September.

The idea was reportedly to make Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour seem insignificant when compared to the memory of Charlie. The widow and mother of two allegedly wanted to see a packed stadium in Glendale, Arizona, for her husband’s funeral. That may have been to rival Taylor, who performs in front of packed crowds all the time.

Erika Kirk wanted Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour “to look like nothing” compared to Charlie Kirk’s funeral

While still grieving her tragic loss, Erika had a lofty objective when celebrating Charlie’s life. In an X post on September 13, podcast host Alex Clark, who has ties to Charlie’s group, Turning Point USA, laid out the instructions Erika had. “I want the Taylor Swift concert to look like nothing compared to this,” wrote Alex. Jack Posobiec, an alt-right political activist, confirmed this, saying that he was in the room when the instructions were made.

Reports indicate Erika sought attention at the memorial service, not for personal gain, but as a sign of the legacy she believes Charlie left behind.

After learning about her husband’s death, Erika says she prayed to God that she was pregnant. The widow recently took some heat for encouraging young women to start families. Some believed this put unnecessary pressure on young people, while others called it cruel.

Erika says that she and Charlie wanted to have four kids together. Instead, they had a daughter and son, with the latter born in May 2024. Erika is currently serving as chairman and CEO of Turning Point USA.
