Fans of Wicked may get to see an up-close and personal look at two of its film stars soon. Reports suggest Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey may reunite in 2027 for some live performances of a classic show.
The two have earned plenty of praise for their acting and chemistry in two Wicked movies. Both films have been box-office smash hits. If the speculation is true the two could be set to wow UK audiences down the road.
Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey could join Sunday in the Park with George
The sequel to Wicked might not be the last time we see Ariana and Jonathan showcasing their vocal talents together. Deadline reports that both of them are in the early planning stages to perform in a revival of Sunday in the Park with George. The show written by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim might be coming to London.
Reports indicate that Ariana and Jonathan will star in the 2027 production, with Marianne Elliott rumored to direct. There is cautious optimism that this show could get the green light and be a real thing sooner rather than later.
The musical follows artist George Seurat as he works on his masterpiece while navigating a tricky relationship with his lover, Dot. The play earned numerous Tony Award nominations in its original 1984 run and in the 2008 Broadway revival.
If that show gets off the ground and is confirmed, it may be the first time we see Jonathan performing in a while. In September, he was said to be taking a break from acting when Wicked: For Good came out. Ariana has been confirmed on the cast of Focker In-Law, the newest movie in the Meet the Parents franchise. That film is scheduled for release in theatres in November 2026.
