After being rushed to the emergency room last weekend, Amaya “Papaya” Espinal has shared an update with fans. The Love Island USA Season 7 winner was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital last weekend, leaving fans concerned. Although the specifics of what exactly happened remain unclear, she appears to be on the mend.
Amaya Espinal had to have emergency surgery following abdominal pain
According to the initial reports about Amaya’s health scare, she was taken by ambulance to a hospital over the weekend after experiencing severe abdominal pain. Doctors had to perform an emergency surgery, and she remains in the hospital.
Following the news, Amaya received an outpouring of love from Love Island fans. In an Instagram Story, she thanked everyone for their support and kind words. You know her phone probably blew up from all of the notifications from fans, friends, family members, and everyone else in between.
“Tears brought to my eyes,” Amaya wrote. “The amount of support & love I received these passed [sic] couple of days. Thank you everyone for keeping me in your prayers.”
While Amaya rebounds from her health scare, production continues on the Love Island spinoff, Beyond the Villa. According to TMZ, she’s been in Los Angeles filming for the past couple of weeks. However, she wasn’t on set when the incident happened.
It’s unclear if we’ll see the aftermath of this health scare play out on the show. Either way, the production team sent her a huge bouquet of flowers to brighten up her hospital room. Amaya showed it off on Instagram. The card attached said, “Your friends at ITV and Beyond the Villa are thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery.”
