Hilary Duff‘s husband, Matthew Koma, just revealed the story of the first time they met. The musician marked their sixth wedding anniversary with the story of their first meeting.
He shared a calendar screenshot titled “Hilary Duff Meeting” from January 21, 2015, at a Los Angeles coffee shop. Koma also tagged the “Lizzie McGuire” alum and joked about how fast he fell for her.

Matthew Koma explained the vibe with a simple line on his Instagram stories. He wrote, “The meeting went well!” He also shared an email he sent a friend that day. “I wanna get marriedb [sic],” he admitted. Later, he posted an anniversary tribute that doubled as a clapback. “6 years my wifey. And they said we wouldn’t make it,” the 38-year-old musician wrote. “Literally everyone said ‘they won’t make it.’ OK just that guy in the Just Jared comment section but f–k him we’re crushing.”
Koma’s post also packed one of his signature food metaphors. “Being married to you is like eating Taco Bell in the late 9O’s,” he joked. “I never know which you I’m gonna get but it’s largely the same ingredients and the euphoria outweighs the tummy discomfort.” Duff boosted the bit on Stories and added, “It’s so hot being compared to Taco Bell. He always gets the assignment.”
The couple has three kids together – Banks, Mae, and Townes. Duff is also the mother of Luca with ex Mike Comrie. Meanwhile, Koma’s message nodded to real-life chaos at home. He closed by saying the children were “screaming at each other,” and that their youngest daughter, Mae, “just ripped a Ken doll’s head off.”
For context, in a past interview with PEOPLE in 2021, Duff praised Koma’s perspective. “He has this really amazing way of looking at the big picture,” she said. She later added, “We knew we just had to be together because we tried a bunch of times to be apart, and that didn’t work out for either one of us.”
