Joe Alwyn suffers wardrobe malfunction
Joe Alwyn experienced a wardrobe malfunction while posing on the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet. He stood for photos alongside his Hamnet costars Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Jacobi Jupe, and Noah Jupe. During the session, the Brutalist star found himself in an uncomfortable situation when a button on his white shirt broke. This ended up revealing his bare chest with the 34-year-old exclaiming, “S***.” Meanwhile, Buckley joked, “Let’s get the party started!”
As such, the director Chloé Zhao tried to fix the button. However, Noah had a better plan in mind. He decided to stand in front of Alwyn to block the exposed chest from view. Alywn was overwhelmed by this sweet gesture and decided to hug Jupe from behind to resume the photo session. For the unaware, the Hament cast were posing for photos after the British historical drama swept the trophy for Best Picture — Drama. On the other hand, Buckley took home Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her role of Agnes Shakespeare.
The other nominations were Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Alwn played the role of Agnes’s brother, Bartholomew Hathaway. He showered praises on the film during its premiere in November 2025. The actor stated, “It’s painful, and it’s sad and it’s heartbreaking, but it’s full of so much love.” He further described Shakespeare’s journey as “the power of art and healing.”
Zhao also shared a special message for Mescal, who plays William Shakespeare, at her acceptance speech. “Making Hamnet made him realize that the most important thing of being an artist,” she said. Zhao added, ” It is learning to be vulnerable enough to allow ourselves to be seen for who we are and not who we ought to be. And to give ourselves fully to the world.”
