Dr. Terry Dubrow is being sued by a former patient. The Botched star is a high profile plastic surgeon who also stars on reality TV and loves being famous. He’s seen it all in terms of his practice, with major success fixing very challenging cases. But now Terry has to respond to a patient suing him for negligence for a surgery performed in 2014.
Botched is a reality TV show in which patients come in to repair unsuccessful surgeries. Terry is a master at dealing with all the physical and emotional implications for his patients. However in this case, the patient is alleging that the Real Housewives of Orange County cast member is the one who botched her procedure.
Dr. Terry Dubrow calls the former patient’s lawsuit “complete fantasy”
As per TMZ, the patient alleged that Terry used a non-FDA approved mesh material. The patient got a breast augmentation, and the suit claims the product was not meant for such a procedure. She allegedly had severe bleeding as a result of Terry’s decision to use SERI Surgical Scaffold mesh.
The plaintiff alleges that she was diagnosed with a hematoma in her right breast by another doctor. 2 surgeries were needed to fix the issue. The suit continues to allege physical injuries, as well as the patient losing out on work opportunities. So there is the financial aspect of losing money, as well as what she had to pay for the subsequent surgeries. Damages are part of this conversation for sure.
However, Terry is unconcerned. He told TMZ, “This case will be dismissed very quickly. The surgery was 12 years ago and the claims are not only untrue but a complete fantasy. The malicious prosecution counterclaim will be very interesting.”
This is not Terry’s first run with legal issues. The RHOC cast member was the focus of a lawsuit from 2020. That former patient alleged that she had a near death experience on Terry’s operating table. A judge dismissed the suit.
Terry sued the plaintiff’s lawyer after the fact for defamation. Perhaps the same course of action is in order here, depending on how it plays out.
