Real Housewives of Salt Lake City friend of the cast Britani Bateman ready for her closeup on American Idol. Not only will she appear (as she did last night on Idol’s Season 24 premiere), but she plans to sing on camera.
Britani’s appearance came at the end of the show, as a preview for Episode 2, which airs February 2. In the clip, the RHOSLC sidekick was standing next to her niece, Carmen Lorell Martin.
As the episode came to a close, Britani introduced herself to the judges.

Appearing in an Instagram video along with her niece, Britani begins the clip by clinking a champagne glass with a knife. “Ding, ding, ding. I have an announcement,” Britani says.
“Ahem,” Carmen interrupts, causing Brit to correct herself. “Oh, excuse me. We have an announcement,” she clarifies.
“I’m going to be on American Idol next week with my niece,” she adds with a huge smile. “And you may even hear me sing.” Way to insert yourself into your niece’s big moment, Britani.
Though reaction to her big moment was mixed, RHOSLC fans discussed her upcoming appearance in a Reddit thread. While some fans loved it, others thought Britani was using her niece “to hijack some screen time.”
Apparently, this isn’t Britani’s first time singing in public. While she’s rumored to be “well known” in the theater world, the parttime real estate agent caught some heat in 2025 for singing Disney songs on a plane.
So when Britani shows up on American Idol next week, it’s unclear who’s using whom for their big TV moment. Is her niece Carmen using Auntie Brit to get on American Idol, or is Britani using her niece for the opportunity to sing on-camera? You be the judge.
