Andy Cohen Reveals Bravo Secret About Monique Samuels Before RHOP Return

Monique Samuels’ return to Bravo was all about timing. The 42-year-old appeared on Season 10 of Real Housewives of Potomac as a “friend of” after a five year hiatus. She exited the series after Season 5, following a difficult year and a physical altercation with cast member Candiace Dillard Bassett. She returned to Season 10 a new woman, focused on growth and healing from her divorce.

At the RHOP Season 10, Part 2 reunion, Andy Cohen praised Monique for being intentional with her return to the network, revealing he offered her another show in the past.

After welcoming Monique back to the stage, Andy took a moment to compliment Monique on prioritizing her mental health.

“Something that people may not know that I really admire about you is that I tried to get you on, I think, Season 2 of Ultimate Girls Trip,” he shared. “You were a hard pass. You really said that you emotionally were not ready to come back to this platform.”

Monique spoke about turning down the opportunity, saying, “I was still very much in my marriage, trying to figure things out. I was so angry at everybody.”

She also shared why she chose to return to RHOP for Season 10. She told Andy she saw it as a test to see how much she’s healed.

“I said, you know, you really can’t test how much you’ve healed unless you’re in a place that could possibly trigger you,” she explained. “You know, staying by yourself at home in solitude is not actually peace.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
