Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Cosby Jr.’s Obituary Revealed: ‘Gentle Spirit’

On February 25, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby shared that her only child had died. Robert Cosby Jr. was just 23.

Today Mary and her husband Robert Cosby Sr. released an obituary in honor of their son, “affectionately” known as Bubs. They went on to describe him as a “loving and gifted young man [whose] gentle spirit touched everyone he met.”

According to his parents, he had a “passion for learning.” He was “accepted early to Cornell University, where he completed his 10th-grade year.” Afterward, he returned home to finish his high school degree in Utah.

“Robert’s love for style and fashion was unmatched,” the obituary states. “He was an elite-class gamer and played the piano like an angel. Though gifted in so many ways, he was a person of great humility — what he valued most couldn’t be bought.”

“Robert loved his parents with a fierce and unwavering devotion,” the obit continues. “His mother was his closest confidante. His first and greatest love, however, was for God. [Robert’s] faith guided him throughout his life, and he shared his journey … touching countless lives.”

“His light, love and legacy will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him and the many he inspired,” the tribute concluded. Finally, Robert’s parents invited people to plant trees in his memory.

Two days following his death, Mary and Robert Sr. shared a statement: “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace.”

“We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow,” they added.

Subsequent to her son’s passing, Housewives, not only from RHOSLC but from several sister franchises, reached out to support Mary. Andy Cohen spoke emotionally about Mary’s loss, saying he “can’t think of anything worse” than losing a child.
