Teddi Mellencamp is dating an older man, and it looks like things are going well. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum opened up about dating while battling cancer during a recent episode of her podcast with Tamra Judge of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
The former RHOBH star spoke about her new relationship
Teddi has had her share of ups and downs these past several years while battling melanoma that metastasized to her lungs and brain. She recently had a rough patch, but luckily, it passed, and things are improving for her.
And not just for her health. Teddi is also pursuing a new romance with an older mystery man. The pair just went on their 10th date. He has college-aged children who still live with him. This is Teddi’s first romance (that we know about) since her ex-love Ricci Rea.
“We’re going to call him Derek,” Teddi said on Two Ts in a Pod. “That’s the thing when you’re dating, and you’re both parents. Like, how are you ever supposed to get past first base? I have kids in my house. He has kids in his house.”
Teddi currently still shares her Encino marital home with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave and their children. He supported her despite their split due to her health struggles. But it does make it challenging to get some alone time with her new beau.
Teddi admitted she hasn’t brought these things up on dates, though. “I’m just taking it slow with him. Normally, that hasn’t been my past.”
When Tamra asked how “Derek” deals with the cancer, Teddi said he was pretty good about it. “He’s a relatively positive and logical person in general,” Teddi shared. “He’s older than I am. But the thing I like the most about him is he makes me laugh.”
She recently went on an early dinner date with her older man, and they went to a speakeasy after because Teddi had a lot of energy that evening. Unfortunately, the next day she didn’t feel as great. Teddi has about one more year of immunotherapy treatments, which make her feel not great three weeks out of the month.
