Donald Trump Says He’s ‘Very Happy’ While Talking About Oil Prices

Donald Trump is making headlines with his latest statement on surging oil prices amid the fragile ceasefire deal with Iran. The president recently stated that he is “very happy” with the current rate, as he had expected it to be higher.

Donald Trump talks about surging oil prices

In a recent interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, Donald Trump admitted that he had expected gas prices to be significantly higher than they are currently. The President said that he is “very happy” with the current rate of the surging oil prices.

“I mean, honestly, I thought there’d be much, and I was willing to do that, to stop a nuclear weapon to be used against this country or the Middle East, anybody in the Middle East, they were going to take out the Middle East,” Trump said about rising oil prices.

The president then added, “To stop that, it was certainly worthwhile being much higher than it is right now. If you told me that we were going to be at only 92 a barrel, $92 a barrel, I would have been very surprised. And you know what? I’m very happy.”

The POTUS then assured, “And it’s going to come dropping down very big as soon as it’s over. And I think it can be over very soon. If they’re smart, it will end soon.” He went on to predict that the gas prices will be “much lower” by the elections. “When that’s settled, gas prices are going to go down tremendously,” he added.

Trump’s statement comes just a week after the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire. In a March 6 Truth Social post, the president announced, “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE,” on the condition that Iran agrees to “the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz.”

Most recently, the US and Iran have reportedly been in indirect talks to extend the deadline of the ceasefire, which expires on April 22.
