Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to spend more time with King Charles this summer. A source revealed that the Sussexes are keen for “family time.” But two royals who won’t be joining in on that are Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are reportedly planning to keep their distance.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly weighing up a UK return
According to The Mirror’s insider, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to spend more time in the UK. In particular, they want to spend the summer with their children and the King at his Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
“He always loves seeing his father and would love to see him as much as possible,” the source explained of Harry. He seems to be mending the relationship he has with his father following their reunion in September 2025.
That said, Harry’s relationship with his brother, William, does not appear to be salvageable right now. Per the insider, the Prince and Princess of Wales intend to avoid the Sussexes if they visit this summer.
“If the King was to invite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to stay with him, that is a matter for His Majesty alone,” the source said. “The Prince and Princess of Wales’ position has not changed. And they would not make arrangements to see them outside of potentially attending an official public engagement.”
The Sussexes and the Wales’ are rumored to have had a very strained relationship in recent years. It all began in 2020 when Harry and Meghan stepped back from life as senior working royals. They later moved to the US and have only returned to the UK a handful of times.
