The reality TV star’s “priority” is being “the best father” to son Ever

Things continue to get worse for Dakota and Taylor. Recently, graphic images have surfaced showing the aftermath of the domestic violence incident between the two in February 2026. They’ve both accused each other of violence. Despite all of this, though, the police in Utah announced that they won’t be filing criminal charges.

Which continues to leave the pair in a weird and terrible limbo. The back-and-forth doesn’t seem to be serving anyone, and now Dakota has released a social media statement talking about what he plans to do now.

On Instagram, Dakota said that he is going to take “a step back and away from the chaos.” He said that now he is going to focus on what really matters — being a good parent and providing a safe and healthy environment for his son, Ever.

Dakota also shared that he regrets not stepping back sooner. He apologized to everyone he’s hurt and takes accountability for his part in everything. According to him, he will be stepping out of the spotlight and focusing on a new chapter where he can work on healing, growing, and focusing on his family.

He also added a slide on his post with information about where to get help if someone is struggling with domestic violence.

A judge previously granted Dakota custody of Ever, with Taylor getting up to eight hours of supervised visitation weekly. There will be another hearing on April 30.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
