Kate Middleton Attends Australian Holiday Service After Sussexes’ Trip

Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, stepped out in London to honor Anzac Day, joining Anne, Princess Royal, to commemorate one of the most significant military remembrance days for Australia and New Zealand. The appearances came just over a week after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to Australia, which placed royal attention on the Commonwealth nation from two very different fronts.

Observed annually on April 25, Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the 1915 Gallipoli landings during World War I. It honors members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who lost their lives in conflict, as well as all who have served. The day remains a national holiday in both Australia and New Zealand, Commonwealth realms where Charles III serves as head of state, and members of the British royal family traditionally take part in commemorations each year.

Princess Anne led the early tributes, attending the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch near Hyde Park Corner. The ceremony followed long-standing tradition, featuring readings, the sounding of the Last Post, a moment of silence, reveille, and the singing of national anthems, before concluding with the laying of wreaths in remembrance of those who served.

Known for her relentless commitment to royal duties, Anne consistently ranks among the busiest members of the family, maintaining a full schedule of official engagements each year.

Later in the morning, Princess Kate played a central role at the Wreath Laying and Parade Service at the Cenotaph in London. Representing her father-in-law, King Charles, she placed a wreath at the national war memorial, which holds deep significance in British remembrance ceremonies, particularly on Remembrance Day each November.

Following the Cenotaph ceremony, Kate attended the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, the same church where she married Prince William in 2011.
