Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Home Trolled as ‘Laughing Stock’ — Report

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shifted to their Montecito home in California after giving up their royal duties. But as per reports, their ultra-rich neighbours are mocking the royal couple. This is reportedly because, despite paying millions for buying the home, the Sussexes did not update the interior of their Mediterranean-style estate.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly trolled by locals over their Montecito home

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to settle down in California after moving out of their royal mansion. As per RadarOnline.com, the couple reportedly bought the Mediterranean-style estate, known as the “Chateau of Riven Rock,” for $14million in 2020. And if reports are to be believed, the royal couple is now trolled by the locals for not updating or modernizing the outdated mansion.

Royal expert Tom Sykes revealed a conversation he had with a local while covering King Charles III‘s U.S. state visit last week on The Royalist podcast. He said that when he was in New York last week, he met with someone who lives close to the couple. “They said to me that the house that they occupy in Montecito is like a sort of laughing stock,” Sykes said.

Sykes continued, “It’s kind of shameful because, of course, in America, if you’re a billionaire and you buy a house for $14million, I mean, what’s the first thing you do? Knock it down, you know, or at the very least remodel it, you know?” But instead, the Sussexes are “still sort of padding around in a kitchen that looks straight out of the Olive Garden,” said the host.

As per the publication, the royal couple has earlier spent millions to renovate the property on the grounds of Great Windsor Park while still working members of the royal family. At the time, a source told the outlet that the Duchess had ordered $3 million in home renovation before they moved out of Kensington Palace and into their new home, the Queen’s beloved Frogmore Cottage.
