Valerie Bertinelli Drops F-Bomb on Today Show

Valerie Bertinelli‘s recent appearance on the Today show fleetingly took an awkward yet hilarious turn. While talking about her latest movie, the actress used profane language without thinking. Realizing this, she apologized, jokingly attributing her swearing to a disease related to her age. Fortunately for her, the hosts didn’t seem all too concerned, merely finding humor in the mishap.

Valerie Bertinelli swears twice on Today show

Valerie Bertinelli recently guested on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle to promote her new film from Lifetime, Love, Again, which marks her first major acting role in 10 years. She last starred in the TV Land sitcom, Hot in Cleveland. The story follows a married couple, Caroline and Henry, whose marriage takes a difficult turn after the latter begins suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s. Becoming her husband’s caregiver, the former, struggling to cope with her newfound reality, finds solace in an unlikely new friendship.

While talking about her character, Caroline’s struggles, and their relation to her own life problems, Bertinelli said she was “one of those people” who would put on their “happy face” regardless of their situation, so she didn’t “bring her s**t to other…,” before cutting herself off and quickly apologizing, realizing she swore. She then appropriately completed her sentence, saying, “Bring my stuff to other people.”

The One Day at a Time alum, clearly flustered, further apologized, remarking she is “so terrible” and “so sorry.” However, co-host Jenna Bush Hager didn’t mind. She even reassured her that they were “just chatting with girlfriends” and that it happens.

However, that wasn’t the only time she swore. While touching upon her household’s familial love and how she hasn’t had a partner or experienced intimacy for a long time, she stated, “I am so independent, and I can do anything I want, so leave me the f*** alone.”

Momentarily surprised, Bush Hager quipped, “Oops, that’s a second one.” Bertinelli responded by jokingly suggesting she would be barred from Today in the future because she cussed.

The Touched by an Angel actress then declared, “You know what, it’s the 66-year-old disease where you just don’t care what comes out of your mouth. I apologize to everybody out there. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
