Matt Damon, the host for the May 9, 2026, episode of SNL, reprised his role as Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on the show. The sketch featuring Damon’s Kavanaugh also featured Colin Jost’s Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, both of whom sat at a Washington bar. Matt Damon plays Brett Kavanaugh on SNL
On May 9, 2026, an episode of SNL, Matt Damon, who served as the host for the third time in his career, reprised his role as the Supreme Court justice. The sketch took place at a bar in Washington, D.C. There, Pete Hegseth (played by Colin Jost) was having a drink so he could avoid his colleagues. Jost’s Hegseth said, “None of Trump’s people like drinking as much as I do.”
“Wrong!” thundered Damon’s Kavanaugh as he walked in, telling Hegseth that he “figured I was going to find you here” because he “saw all the women covering their drinks.”
Both the characters in the sketch brag about doing things that are deemed controversial. Hegseth bragged that he “started a war.” Meanwhile, Damon’s Kavanaugh bragged that he “ended abortion.” He added, “Your body, my choice!”
Eventually, the sketch also introduced Aziz Ansari’s FBI Director Kash Patel. “Seriously, we’re all living the American dream,” Patel said, “I’m the first person in my family to go to college − parties, many years after graduating.”
Kavanaugh explained, “We’re going to let Trump do a third term,” noting that even though it was unconstitutional, PresidentTrump “found the original Constitution, and at the end, he wrote, ‘Psych!'”
Many recent episodes of SNL featured political satires, with James Austin Johnson also frequently participating as Donald Trump.
This episode marked Matt Damon’s third time serving as a host of SNL. He last served as the host back in 2018. Noah Kahan was the musical guest for the episode.
