Donald Trump boasts about ‘taking’ out Stephen Colbert and others
Donald Trump has once again taken aim at Stephen Colbert and others in a new Truth Social post on Monday, June 1. The US President penned a lengthy statement celebrating his alleged victory over his political rivals.
“In the last two weeks I’ve taken out many bad Political “Leaders” and Pundits including Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Lightweight “Congressman” Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brad Raffensperger of Georgia, REALLY DUMB Stephen Colbert of CBS, and others,” Trump wrote.
The POTUS concluded, “My score, for two weeks, is 38-0, with three more limping Late Night Talk Show Hosts, including Low Ratings Bill Maher and his Fake “Laughing Machine,” to go. It is my Honor to be working so hard for our Country!”
The statement comes a month after the final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In July 2025, CBS announced that the show had been canceled, sparking widespread controversy. There has been rampant speculation that Colbert’s criticism of the network’s parent company, Paramount’s July 3 $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump, is the reason for the cancellation.
However, CBS later stated that the cancellation is “not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.” They said that it was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night.”
In an interview with People ahead of his last time hosting The Late Show on May 21, Colbert reflected on the show’s legacy. “I hope they laughed. I hope they felt better at the end of the day,” he said.
In addition to Colbert, Trump could have been referring to other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver, who have all been longtime critics of the president.
