Former Below Deck Chef Claims Huge Food Network Victory on Beat Bobby Flay

Below Deck chefs are (typically) highly trained individuals. So trained that, recently, a Below Deck Mediterranean alum actually defeated Bobby Flay on Beat Bobby Flay. And wildly, this alum even “sliced” his “hand mid-cook,” making his victory all the more impressive.

Dave White was a Bravo fan favorite when he appeared on Below Deck

Below Deck chefs plan menus, provision their supplies, and cook 100% of the food they prepare on board, making them some of the top chefs in the industry. Well, most of the time. There have been a few who licked their microwaved steaks, but we digress.

That said, when Chef Dave White appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7, his skills were immediately evident, and he quickly became a fan-favorite chef on this series.

Sadly, Dave only lasted one season. But this new dad’s star is still on the rise. Proving our point, Dave just appeared on Season 41 of Beat Bobby Flay, where he moved on to compete against Bobby in a fish and chips showdown. However, he ended up slicing his finger midway through their challenge.

As Parade reported, this “competition definitely tested” Dave. “I sliced my hand mid-cook using a brand-new knife and kept going one-handed because I knew I still had a shot,” he explained. And luckily for Dave, his efforts paid off. The judges unanimously declared his fish and chips as the winner over Bobby’s Indian-inspired fusion dish, and as a result, Dave got to say, “I’m Dave White, and I beat Bobby Flay!”

When Dave shared a clip of his win online, Nathan Gallagher appeared in his comments. “Legend mate!” Nathan wrote. Everyone feels thrilled for Dave, from his fans to his fellow yachties on Bravo. And Dave likely agrees, since, going into this competition, he “honestly thought I was outmatched.”

Below Deck Mediterranean premieres on Monday, June 8, at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Peacock the following day. Meanwhile, Beat Bobby Flay airs on the Food Network on Thursday nights at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
