Prince Harry reportedly had a private WhatsApp group with reporters in preparation for his and Meghan Markle’s potential UK trip. The prince was set to arrive in the UK on July 7 for the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. It is also reported that he may be accompanied by Markle and their children on the trip.
Private media briefings were prepared before the visit became uncertain
According to The Daily Mail, messages from a WhatsApp group containing multiple journalists that has been linked to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have surfaced, revealing changes in the plans for Prince Harry’s potential trip to the UK.
The outlet suggests that the group was formed by Harry and Markle’s Director of Communications, Liam Maguire, to keep selected journalists briefed on the couple’s plans for an upcoming trip to the UK. Daily Mail reporter Richard Eden claimed that the reporters in the group received a “long message confirming details of Prince Harry and Meghan’s return visit to Britain next week.” Apart from this, the message also reportedly shared details regarding the itinerary for the trip.
The group also seemingly provided details regarding Harry bringing his kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on this trip. However, the outlet states that things took a turn when it was reported that the Royal Palace had refused Harry’s demand for fully funded police protection for his family, inviting them to stay at the royal residence. This development prompted another message to the group, indicating that Harry might be looking to walk back on his plan to bring kids to the UK.
According to Sky News, a source close to Harry said that the Prince “is looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground.”
