America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders star Reece Weaver is set to make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago. The 24-year-old will begin her six-week run at New York City’s Ambassador Theatre on September 7. Her limited engagement will continue through October 18.

Weaver’s Broadway debut marks a new chapter in her career. She spent three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders after joining as a 2023 rookie. She later gained recognition on Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts, which also featured her relationship and marriage to her husband, Will Weaver, reports People.
The former cheerleader took to Instagram to share the exciting news. She wrote, “Turning in the boots for Broadway. Friends!!!!!! Typing this sentence doesn’t even feel real… It is the greatest honor and privilege to have the opportunity to join the cast of @chicagomusical as ROXIE HART!!!!!! One of my biggest dreams as a performer was to one day be on Broadway and I cannot believe this dream has come to fruition.”
Speaking to Us Weekly in June, she said, “In high school, we wrote down 10 things that we want to do in the next 10 years. One of them was DCC [Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders]. I had a few other things. But one of them was to be on Broadway.”
The long-running Broadway musical Chicago is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary this fall. Weaver will take over Krysta Rodriguez as Roxie Hart. She will appear alongside Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Mark Ballas as Billy Flynn, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, and Eddie Cooper as Amos Hart.
In addition, the ensemble includes Tia Altinay, Ronnie S. Bowman Jr., Austin Dunn, John Michael Fiumara, Danielle Marie Gonzalez, Chelsea James, Christopher Kelley, James T. Lane and Jenny Laroche. Marty Lawson, Joseph London, Kristen Faith Oei, Denny Paschall, Mariah Reives, Sean Samuels, Samantha Sturm, Jeff Sullivan and Elizabeth Yanick are also part of the cast.
