Robert Irwin explains why his love life is far less exciting than his animal work
Irwin was asked about romance during a recent airport interview shared by the Daily Mail on Instagram. When asked if there was someone special in his life, he kept the answer brief. “Yeah, well, I keep that pretty private,” Irwin said. “Everything with my personal life.” He did not confirm whether he is single or quietly dating someone.
The latest report also points back to Irwin’s earlier comments about romance. He has often suggested that the reality of Robert Irwin dating is far less dramatic than fans may imagine.
During a February interview with Entertainment Tonight, Irwin addressed rumors that he could become the next Bachelor. He joked that “anything could happen,” but quickly returned to what defines his everyday life.
“I’m a zookeeper. I’m an animal conservationist. That’s my thing,” Irwin said. He described his regular life as more boring than people might expect and called himself “pretty vanilla” when discussing dating.
That has not stopped questions about a possible Robert Irwin girlfriend. In July, matching mountain-climbing posts sparked speculation that he might be dating wildlife photographer Ashleigh Scully. Neither Irwin nor Scully confirmed a romance. Their similar Grand Teton posts were enough to get fans talking.
The Robert Irwin love life chatter also comes as his TV career grows. He currently hosts Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro, which premiered July 13. ABC says the show follows 12 dancers competing for a professional spot on Season 35 of DWTS. Rumors about The Bachelor have followed Irwin for months. He previously played coy about handing out roses and later faced another round of speculation about joining the franchise.
For now, though, Irwin seems far more willing to discuss animals and dancing than reveal who might be getting his roses off-camera.
