Maura Higgins reignited her feud with Gleb Savchenko while discussing her upcoming Dancing With the Stars debut. The Irish star doubled down on her wish to avoid Gleb after he previously claimed he had never heard of her.
The 35-year-old had already taken aim at the 42-year-old dance pro over his messy split from Maura’s friend Brooks Nader. Her latest comments suggested the tension could follow both stars into Dancing With the Stars season 35.
Maura Higgins says she would take ‘anyone but Gleb’ as her Dancing With the Stars partner
Speaking with StyleCaster, Maura admitted she could become a “nightmare” during rehearsals. She still knew exactly who she wanted beside her when the cameras started rolling.
“I’d take anyone but Gleb,” Maura said.
Her answer echoed comments she made previously about Gleb. He responded to her earlier remarks by saying he had never heard of her.
Gleb also called Maura’s comments “disappointing,” adding another spark to their increasingly public feud. Her latest swipe therefore seemed unlikely to cool things down.
Maura also named Mark Ballas as a preferred partner. She developed a friendship with Mark during The Traitors and said she believed he could handle her personality.
“I think he’d be able to handle me,” Maura said about Mark.
The brewing Gleb Savchenko feud came from his past relationship with Brooks. Brooks partnered with Gleb during Dancing With the Stars season 33.
The pair developed a romance while competing before their relationship ended shortly after their season concluded. Brooks claimed she discovered evidence of cheating on Gleb’s phone.
Gleb denied those allegations and claimed Brooks fabricated the evidence to promote her reality series, Love Thy Nader. Their split quickly became a talking point among fans.
Maura’s involvement added another layer because of her friendship with Brooks. Her growing US profile also made the DWTS tension potentially awkward behind the scenes. An insider claimed Maura worried the feud could create a frosty atmosphere backstage, as per The Sun. The source said she wanted to focus on learning her routines instead.
The insider also said Maura did not want anything to “dim the shine” on her major American opportunity.
Maura had recently expanded her US profile through Celebrity Traitors and the US version of Love Island. Her DWTS debut marked another major step.
