Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly back in Britain. The couple is believed to have arrived privately with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, marking their return after years in California. Their reported arrival comes as the family prepares for a new life in the UK as non-working royals. For now, the move appears to be starting quietly, away from the public eye.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly land in UK with their children
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly returned to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. According to the BBC, the family is believed to have traveled privately from California and arrived in Birmingham shortly before afternoon.
Their arrival was kept low-key. A source told the BBC there was no obvious police presence as the family left the airport. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the couple said, “this is not something we would comment on,” without confirming the arrival.
The return comes after reports last week suggested that the Sussexes would relocate to Britain in August. If the move proceeds as reported, they are not expected to resume official royal duties. Instead, the family would live in the UK as non-working royals.
Their new home is also expected to be away from the center of royal life. According to reports, the family is set to base itself at a private property in the Cotswolds, outside London. Their children have supposedly been enrolled in school, with the new term due to begin next week.
The return marks a major change after the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties in 2020. They subsequently settled in California in March of that year. Before their move, Harry and Markle had not been in the UK together since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
Their arrival also comes with unresolved questions about security. Harry previously lost a legal battle over the level of protection provided to him and his family in Britain. It remains unclear what security arrangements will be made now, or who will cover the cost.
