Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Dog Makes a Full-Circle UK Return — Insider

Meghan Markle reportedly brought dog Pula back to Britain, turning the family pet’s journey into a full-circle moment. The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry arrived in the UK with Archie, Lilibet, and their two dogs. Pula first joined them after their 2018 wedding, before moving to California in 2020. Now, the Labradors’ return comes as the Sussexes begin an extended stay outside royal duties.

Meghan Markle reportedly brings dog Pula back to UK after eight years

According to a People report, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s dogs joined them in their move to the UK. The outlet said black Labrador Pula and beagle Mia traveled with the family. On August 19, people reported that the Sussexes planned an extended stay in Britain. Then, on August 26, the couple arrived with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5.

Meanwhile, Pula’s return carried the strongest full-circle detail. People said the dog joined the family shortly after Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding. The pup’s name means “rain” in Setswana. Since rain is scarce in Botswana, it is considered “valuable and a blessing.” Pula later moved stateside when the couple stepped back from royal roles and settled in California.

However, Mia’s story added another rescue detail. The senior beagle joined the family in 2022. She had been rescued from a Virginia breeding facility through the Beagle Freedom Project. Volunteer Shannon Keith recalled Meghan holding Mia and saying, “We’re adopting her.” She added that the duchess said, “No, we don’t want a Christmas puppy.” Meghan wanted “ones we can help who are older.”

Still, not every family animal made the UK trip. People said the Sussex chickens would stay at the Montecito home and be cared for. The couple rescued 10 hens from a commercial factory farm. They also received another from Ellen DeGeneres. Meghan previously told Oprah Winfrey, “I just love rescuing.” For Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and their dog Pula, the move to the UK also marked a quiet return as a pet family.
