Meghan Markle reportedly risks overshadowing Prince George’s Eton debut
According to The Royal Observer, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly enrolled Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in British schools after securing places following a waiting period. The schools have not been publicly identified for security reasons.
Royal expert Emma Shacklock suggested that the Sussex children’s return to British education could spark widespread public interest. She argued that the excitement surrounding Archie and Lilibet’s new schools may compete with Prince George‘s first term at Eton College.
George is expected to begin classes in September, marking a significant milestone for the future king. The Prince and Princess of Wales have traditionally shared carefully planned family photographs during major moments in their children’s lives.
Shacklock also speculated that Meghan Markle could acknowledge Archie and Lilibet’s school milestone on social media. She suggested the duchess might share a back-to-school photo while keeping their faces and school details private. According to the expert, such a post could attract substantial public attention.
The publication also referenced previous claims that overlapping Sussex appearances have occasionally drawn focus away from royal engagements. Those reports remain the opinions of royal commentators.
However, not everyone believes there will be a conflict. Royal broadcaster Neil Sean claimed the Sussexes have assured King Charles that they do not intend to distract from key royal occasions. He said the couple would not “hijack or derail” Prince George’s first day at Eton, which begins with the autumn term on September 1.
Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle has publicly commented on the speculation. Likewise, Kensington Palace has not addressed claims about how Prince George’s school milestone will be handled.
