NFL Player Hines Ward Wins Dancing With The Stars!

After falling short of winning the Superbowl earlier this year, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was crowned the new Dancing With The Stars champ!

Going into the final results show last night, Hines was tied with Disney starlet Chelsea Kane for the top spot. He also faced competition from actress Kirstie Alley, who despite being a few points behind, was a fan favorite.

Not so surprisingly, coming in third place was Chelsea, 22, and her partner Mark Ballas. This left Hines, 35, and Kirstie, 60, to battle it out for the dreadful mirror ball trophy!

Ultimately, Hines was crowned the winner of DWTS season 12 and he made certain to thank his partner Kym Johnson. “I started this competition, I never thought I’d be in the finals, but I owe it all to Kym,” Hines said. “She’s an amazing teacher. I want to thank the judges for giving us their constructive criticism to help me get better each week. But also I want to thank all the fans.”

Runner-up Kirstie also thanked her partner/hotness Maksim Chmerkovskiy for helping her through the season. “It’s the most extraordinary adventure I’ve ever been on in my life,” said Kirstie, “and I want to thank…I love Maks.”

The three finalists all appeared on Good Morning America this morning. Hines also becomes the second NFL player in the history of DWTS to take the title. The only other player to accomplish the feat was Emmitt Smith in season three.
