Chrishell Stause Explains Why She Wanted To Take Legal Action Against Christine Quinn For Her Off Camera Behavior

Anyone watching Selling Sunseton Netflix can feel the tension between Christine Quinn and Chrishell Stause. Things between these two came to a head during the dramatic season four finale when Chrishell did her best to address her issues with Christine on camera. Christine did what she does. She wriggled away from any accountability while still keeping all the spotlight and attention. At art form she has mastered, really.

E! Newsreported on an interview Chrishell did with Vultureregarding the season ending episode. Chrishell dove in to what was going on behind the scenes and why she was ready to address her co-star. She said, “I’d rather just be honest and tell you: She tried to plant a false story when I was going through my divorce and I had to have both sides confirm that it wasn’t true and then threaten legal action.” Uh oh.

“And this was right after my mom died,” Chrishell pointed out. “It was a lot on my plate and kicking someone while they’re down and trying to spread a rumor that I was hooking up with someone. Both parties knew that is not what happened. They had to pull it, but to try and even put that out there at a time where everybody was wondering what happened and I lost my mom—to me that’s so below the belt.”

Justin Hartley filed for divorce from Chrishell in November of 2019 after just two years of marriage. Chrishell’s mother passed away as a result of lung cancer in July of the following year. Chrishell is now speaking out about having to spend “thousands of dollars” on legal fees while also grieving her mother’s death. All while her costar was “spreading rumors.”

“She did it again recently,” Chrishell revealed. “Trying to say that me and Jason [Oppenheim] were happening before, and it’s just not true,” she said. “You can understand how that really could take someone down and ruin them when everyone on the internet is trying to figure out what happened. She takes it as an opportunity to fill in some blanks that were blatantly untrue. It was many steps too far for me.”

Jason and Chrishell publicly announced their relationship a full year after the death of her mother’s death, in July of 2021. At the time Christine commented, “I think it’s a very interesting thing. I think it works for them. I think it’s very advantageous too. I mean, s–t, maybe that’s why I’m so bad at real estate. Maybe I’m doing it all wrong!”

Chrishell, on the other hand, has kept her comments regarding Christine very direct. When initially addressing the rumors being spread she announced, “It’s so frustrating and unfortunate that someone would use someone’s personal painful situation to get press for themselves. I can’t say I am surprised, but please check the source.”
