On May 5, the Met Gala 2025 witnessed many stunning appearances by celebrities from around the world. Besides the regular visitors, the event, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, witnessed the debut of the former Vice President, Kamala Harris. This year, the theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which was dedicated to the clothing and style connected with Black identity formation in Atlanta. Leaning into the dress code, Harris showed up to the Met Gala 2025 in a black-and-white silk gown from Off-White.

Kamala Harris graced the red carpet at the much-awaited Met Gala 2025 on Monday. For her debut, she was joined by her husband, Douglas Emhoff. Harris kept her fashion game simple but stunning. The 60-year-old donned a black-and-white silk gown that featured many interesting details: a white side sleeve, a long scarf, and a gorgeous skirt. She paired this look with nude makeup, her signature hairstyle, green diamond earrings, bracelet, and black and gold clutch. On the other hand, Emhoff looked dapper in a black and white tux by Brunello Cucinelli.
Additionally, the Met 2025 photos showed Harris and Emhoff being joined by the former’s stylist for the day, IB Kamara. The former Vice President appeared to be thanking her stylist in one of the candid pictures. She even gave a hug to Kamara in one of the pictures, making it a sweet moment.
In a conversation with Vogue, Kamara opened up on his simplistic styling for Harris’ Met Gala 2025 debut. He stated, “For this monumental night at the Met celebrating Black culture and iconicity, we felt simplicity is best.” The stylist further revealed using “a mix of silk fabrications and precise tailoring” to add “subtle flares.” As a result, this let Harris’ “own dandyism to shine through” in the clothing details like the scarf and the statement sleeve.
Previously, Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, made her debut at the 2021 edition of the Met Gala. However, she did not attend the event this year.
