Brynn Whitfield Was Hoping for Termination Before Exiting RHONY

Most people try to quit their jobs before getting fired. It looks better. It feels better, but apparently, Brynn Whitfield had the opposite thought about Real Housewives of New York. In a new episode of her Please See Below podcast, she made the bizarre claim that she wanted to get fired.

Brynn Whitfield made her decision to leave RHONY during the reunion

Initially, RHONY fans had high hopes for Brynn. She seemed quirky, flirty, and like one of the few people who understood the big shoes they were filling.

Fast forward to her second season, and she had a spectacular fall from grace. Things took a dark during the Season 15 finale, when Brynn accused Ubah Hassan of callng her a “whore” after confiding in her about an experience with sexual assault. The situation finally got people talking about the RHONY reboot, just for all of the wrong reasons.

Of course, the cast held Brynn’s feet to the fire at the Season 15 reunion. According to Brynn, she knew during the sitdown that she wouldn’t be coming back for another season.

“I decided at the reunion that I wasn’t going to do it,” Brynn recalled during the Wednesday, June 18, episode of her pod. “I was like, ‘This is too much.’”

Ultimately, Brynn waited until this month to announce her exit from reality TV. In her statement, she said she wanted to focus on pouring everything she had into a new dating app she launched, Hoppy. On her podcast, however, Brynn said that she was hoping the decision would come from Bravo’s side.

“I knew I just wasn’t going to do it,” she said. “I was hoping that they would either fire me, or I was hoping that they would cancel the show. Or they would be like, ‘Hey, we’re done casting, we signed everyone. Sorry, Brynn. Thank you so much.’”

That definitely could have happened, since Bravo hasn’t made any decisions about the future of RHONY. Either way, Brynn said that part of her wanted to stick around part-time. Boldly, she said she envisioned herself having a similar role as Kathy Hilton on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

“That’s perfect to me because I’m like Kathy. I’m just a young, more lame version of Kathy. [A] less rich version of Kathy,” Brynn suggested, noting that she just wanted to just show up “a couple of times.”

“I don’t need to hold an apple or a diamond,” the RHONY alum continued. “I just want to come in. Let me just be my dumb self, enjoy it, [then] bye guys. See you later.”

The Real Housewives of New York is streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
