It’s been five years since Hannah Ferrier got fired from Below Deck Mediterranean. The vape pen, the Valium, and the Malia White of it all became one of the most controversial storylines on the show to date.
Since then, Hannah has moved on from the ordeal, even publicly making amends with Captain Sandy Yawn. There are no longer any hard feelings about what went down in Season 5, but when reflecting on how things played out, she said she couldn’t help but feel “targeted.”

A regular charter season can be challenging enough for a yachtie. When you add in the pressures of reality TV, it makes things even worse. In a recent conversation with People, Hannah said she “understood” what she was getting into, but it was difficult to process how the producers helped orchestrate drama.
“Sometimes you can feel targeted because you’re so close to it,” she explained.
“But it’s part of the process,” Hannah continued. “They’re not trying to make it perfect for you.”
Angry charter guests, chefs who can’t cook, and a myriad of other obstacles made the season more difficult for the cast. That makes it fun for the audience, but not as fun for the yachties having to experience it firsthand. Hannah said she understands that even more now that she’s no longer a part of it.
“Stepping back for five years has given me a good perspective of, nobody’s targeting you, it’s just the way the beast works. Whereas when you’re filming it, you can feel a bit targeted,” she admitted.
