Brandon Blackstock passed away earlier this month. His ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson, was not listed in his obituary. Brittney Marie Jones, her former production assistant, however, was.
Brandon and Brittney were building a life together. But sadly, cancer entered their orbit, sending Brandon into a lengthy private battle for his life. On August 7, his fight came to a peaceful end as his family members gathered by his side. And now, Brittney, his children, and all who cared for Brandon are preparing to lay him to rest this August 17.
As the days pass, we are starting to learn more about Brittney, her former working relationship with Kelly, and also the type of cancer that Brandon had been quietly fighting for roughly the past three years. Here is everything that we now know.
How is Brittney Marie Jones connected to Kelly Clarkson?

According to her rather sparse LinkedIn profile, Brittney worked for Kelly from 2016 to 2018. Her full-time, Nashville-based role as a production assistant involved many moving parts. But, to paint her job into a box, Brittney assisted Kelly’s tour and production managers, alongside her security team, helping to ensure smooth live tapings and events.
Her additional job duties included setting up dressing rooms and hospitality tables, arranging meal times, and handling all of the in-ear monitor relations between Kelly, her band, and her crew. Whatever Kelly needed, Brittney was her girl.
Following this gig, Brittney moved on to Starstruck Entertainment. This company develops and manages various recording artists, producers, and sound engineers. Narvel Blackstock owns Starstruck Entertainment, but Brittney did not work for him. Instead, she worked as an executive assistant to his manager-level son, Brandon.
From 2018 to 2020, Brittney maintained this position. Meanwhile, she also remained with Kelly, managing her day-to-day schedule as Kelly filmed her hit talk show series, The Kelly Clarkson Show. Her position at Starstruck Entertainment ended around the time that Kelly filed for a divorce from Brandon.
Brittney moved on from being Kelly’s assistant to being Brandon Blackstock’s “life partner”

As soon as she stepped down from her roles with Kelly and Starstruck Entertainment, Brittney transitioned into a new position. She also relocated for this placement, and, to date, remains in this post. In this position, her work as an executive assistant centered solely around Brandon and his V Bar B Cattle Co. ranch in Montana.
Now, Kelly also has a ranch in Montana, which she calls Vintage Valley. After their divorce, Brandon lived here for several years. But ultimately, the courts awarded Kelly back her sprawling residence in 2021. The following year, Brandon purchased a new four-bedroom, three-bathroom ranch in Butte, Montana, where he quickly started operating two distinct entities from, V Bar V Cattle Co. and Valley View Livestock.
In both of these organizations, Brittney worked alongside Brandon to help increase his profits and solidify his operations in Montana. Thanks to her efforts, Brandon is now leaving a legacy in this gorgeous state for his four surviving children. As for Brittney, she remains active on their website. Likewise, “his beautiful and loving partner in life and business” stayed by his side here until Brandon peacefully passed.
What did Brandon’s obituary say about Brittney?

Brandon stepped away from the limelight following his divorce from Kelly. For this reason, we only learned that he had fallen ill after Kelly posted a statement about his health online. In her post, Kelly revealed that she was taking a break to be present for their shared children. Then, only hours later, headlines declared that Brandon had passed.
In his obituary, we learned that Brandon had been battling cancer for the past three years. We also discovered that he and Brittney moved to Montana and “started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.”
After finding “a homestead and a love in” Montana, Brandon then “charged into life with both guns blazing. But never did his star shine brighter than in his role as a father,” his tribute stressed. After shouting out his children with Kelly, a son and a daughter named River and Remy, no further details concerning Brittney sounded.
Our thoughts are with Brittney, Kelly, and their collective loved ones this weekend. As his obituary ends, “This is when the cowboy rides away.”
