With the fate of The Real Housewives of New Jersey still up in the air, did Andy Cohen put together a new group of Italian ladies to possibly replace them? In a May 2025 interview, Andy said that the upcoming Real Housewives of Rhode Island felt “Italian with a Capital ‘I’.”
It seems like every other day that casting rumors leak out. So far, RHONJ star Dolores Catania, Bachelor Nation’s Ashley Iaconetti and even Emmy award-winner Joy Behar have been namechecked.
Over the summer, Ashley was allegedly spotted filming for the new franchise. Is Rhode Island on the verge of becoming a reality show? As Andy recently put it, “It’s popping!”
The RHORI cast are delivering, according to Andy Cohen
On September 11, executive producer Andy gave an update about RHORI on his Andy Cohen Live podcast. When Canadian former ice hockey player and actor Sean Avery brought up Rhode Island, Andy didn’t hold back.
“It’s gonna be amazing,” Andy responded. “It’s gonna be really good. We’re almost done filming the season, and it’s popping!”
Turning the tables on his host, Sean began peppering Andy with questions about the new show. “Would you say,” Sean wondered, “I don’t know, you made a comment about them. Is it like an Italian …”
“Very,” Andy replied.
“ I didn’t know there were Italian people in Rhode Island,” Sean commented.
At this point, Andy’s co-host John Hill jumped into the conversation. “It’s very close to Jersey,” he said. “It’s like 30 minutes.” [Um, I hate to contradict John, but I just Googled Rhode Island and it’s all the way up there by Massachusetts. It’s closer to four hours and 45 minutes to drive from New Jersey per Google Maps.]
“Rhodie,” the Watch What Happens Live host added. “You do not wanna [f*ck] with the people from Rhodie.”
“Really?!” Sean asked.
“Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah,” Andy assured him.
A premiere date for The Real Housewives of Rhode Island has not yet been announced. But we know it’s filming, so it can’t be too far away.
