Gayle King Has Survivor Winner Parvati Shallow’s Back in Chat With Jeff Probst

Big things are coming for Survivor. The competition reality show is gearing up for an exciting Season 50 with some of the cast favorites over the years. Gayle King chatted with host Jeff Probst and asked him why the Season 50 lineup didn’t include former winner and fan favorite Parvati Shallow.

Survivor’s newest season is dropping this September, but everyone is already looking ahead to Season 50. The landmark season is promising to be bigger and better. According to Jeff, it brings together fan favorites and returning castaways. But when the show revealed the cast list, they notably left out some names.

Should Parvati Shallow have returned for Survivor 50?

Several fans wondered why Survivor alum and winner Parvati Shallow was not part of the Season 50 lineup. And she wasn’t the only one, there were some Survivor 50 snubs that people were looking for.

“There was a lot of conversation about Parvati not being invited to Season 50,” Gayle said to Jeff at the Emmys. “Even when she was on our show, she seemed surprised that she wasn’t invited.”

“That’s unfortunate that she really didn’t know,” Jeff answered. “But the truth was, if you’re a Survivor fan, we had just done a season of all winners. And it had Parvati and Rob and Tony and all of these great players. And we just felt like we just saw them. Let’s do something different for 50.”

He further clarified, “It had nothing to do with Parvati being good or not good or Rob. Parvati just won Australia vs. The World. She’s a dominant player.”

“I know she did, which is all the more reason why you think she would have been invited,” Gayle replied.

“We only had a few spots,” Jeff explained. “And we’ve had 750 people play.” Jeff did mention how good Parvati was, and Gayle agreed.

For her part, Parvati did mention that she wouldn’t be part of Survivor 50 and that she was pivoting from reality competition television. However, she did comment on the video, thanking Gayle for having her back.

She commented, “Gayle is my hero!”

Survivor Season 49 premieres Sept 24, 8pm ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Survivor 50 premieres in 2026.
