For years, Tiffany “New York” Pollard has been a staunch ally for the LGBTQ+ community, but did you know she’s a part of the community, too?
The reality TV legend is gearing up for the launch of OUTtv’s Slayers: Wheel of Fate, which features an all-queer cast of competitors in an “immersive gaming experience” duking it out in a castle and trying not to get eaten by a dragon. Yes, really.
While promoting the show, Tiffany opened up about her own connection to the LGBTQ+ community. She said she resonates with non-binary people, embracing both the feminine and masculine sides of her personality, and it’s a powerful moment of visibility for an often overlooked segment of the community.
Tiffany “New York” Pollard feels “masculine” on some days, and “super feminine” on others

Tiffany first opened up about her queer identity in a 2023 interview with Jason Lee. She admitted to living a “very, very broad life” in terms of her sexuality. Now, during a new interview with PinkNews, she explained how she’s learned that gender is a spectrum just like sexuality.
“I really do resonate with non-binary because I feel like we are so dual without even recognizing it,” Tiffany shared. “Because it takes two sexes for us to get here, so some days I may feel a lot more masculine and sometimes I’m super feminine, and that’s OK.”
Of course, Tiffany rose to fame on the extremely heteronormative Flavor of Love. With that in mind, Tiffany said it’s been liberating to be more open about her identity. She said she “kissed a girl” for the first time in junior high, and it “felt right.” So, this moment of freedom has been coming for a long time.
She explained, “You gonna come out of that closet and once you do, it’s like, ‘OK, wow, this world is open to me in new ways and sweetie, shoving me back in the closet is never going to be an option’”.
With Slayers: Wheel of Fate, she’s looking forward to putting the LGBTQ+ community into the spotlight. The last person standing wins $25,000, and for Tiffany, something like this has been a long time coming. She credits the community for keeping her relevant for all of these years.
“I feel like if I didn’t have such a strong connection with the queer fanbase that I have, I don’t know if I would still be in the game as prevalently as I am. They keep the HBIC alive. I love to hear my sh*t recited,” Tiffany said.
Slayers: Wheel of Fate premieres on October 8 on OutTV.
