When charter guest Jack Freeman boarded the Bravado, chief stew Aesha Scott warned the crew that he was high maintenance. She’d served him on another boat and remembered that he could be entitled and demanding. Jack likes to push the boundaries, as we saw in Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10, Episode 4.
Following a lovely dinner prepared by chef Josh Bingham, the guests were enjoying the hot tub. But Jack complained that the jacuzzi was “too hot” and craved a plunge into the cool, nighttime ocean.
A Below Deck Med guest fell into the ocean at night
Although bosun Nathan Gallagher had specifically told deckhand Christian Trimino to keep the guests out of the water for safety reasons, Jack was adamant. Like a spoiled child used to getting his way, Jack kept pushing until Christian finally relented. He agreed to allow Jack to dip “just [his] feet” into the water. Oh, Christian, you’d better get a whole lot tougher if you ever decide to have children.
Not swimming in the ocean at night is just common sense. It’s dark, the guests have been drinking, and the current can quickly carry you away from the boat. Also, many fish feed at night. Ever heard of a shark, Jack?
Cameras captured Jack standing on the swim platform at the back of the boat. As the platform rose and fell in the swells of the water, Christian ordered him to “sit down.”
“It’s actually quite wobbly,” Jack commented, before either slipping and falling or purposefully jumping into the dark water. Nathan, who happened to be watching on the crew mess monitors, immediately rushed on deck to help.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it was a very dangerous stunt, and it could result in Christian losing his job. He was already on thin ice with his boss before bending the rules, which could have ended so much worse.
