Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars has been filled with surprises. In honor of the show’s 20th birthday, former DWTS pros and Mirroball champs returned to the ballroom. Plus, former host Tom Bergeron picked up a scoring paddle as a guest judge. And Prince William video chatted with Robert Irwin. What?!
Of course, Robert is having a great time on DWTS. His shirtless salsa so impressed Chippendales that they offered him a hosting gig. However, Robert politely declined. Of course, his partner, Witney Carson, is looking out for Robert. The duo has such a sweet, sibling-like vibe.
Prince William appeared via video chat to talk with Robert Irwin and Witney Carson
When Prince William appeared on DWTS via video chat, I think it’s safe to say it was the cameo that no one expected. William jokingly called Robert “twinkle toes.” Then, Robert asked Prince William about Rio. The conservationist, who is an ambassador for the Earthshot prize, was supposed to be in Brazil for a ceremony, but had to bow out because of DWTS.
“We’re missing you, Robert. I need you down here,” William said. “You guys have got a serious good chance of winning.” Then Prince William told Witney, “You need to get him in as much glitter as you can. Best of luck on the show.”
After the chat ended, Witney was shook. “I can’t believe he just said my name,” the DWTS pro said. “Let’s not mess this up!” Robert stated. Indeed, the duo earned the first perfect score of Season 34 with their emotional foxtrot to the song, Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis.
Robert and Witney ended the night in a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. With his charm, enthusiasm, and killer moves, Robert has become a fan favorite. I think it’s safe to say that we will see him in the finale.
Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
