Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee are one of a handful of 90 Day Fiance success stories. What made their journey even more complex is that Deavan was the one to move out of the States. Their scenes on 90 Day Fiance The Other Way highlighted some initial cultural differences and expectations that Deavan and Jihoon were able to overcome. Now they are quite the happy family with their son Taeyang and Deavan’s daughter Drascilla.
Deavan gives fans updates on her life with cute pictures of her kids and their adventures in South Korea. Of course, since EVERYONE on social media has an opinion, Deavan ends up having to defend herself for some oversight. Whether it’s warranted or not is another matter. Poor Deavan had another such incident yesterday. This time, the issue was coronavirus safety.
Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee’s relationship is one of few success stories from 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. She moved to South Korea from Utah to live with her fiance and his parents. Some of the initial culture shocks were documented on the show, but since then, Deaven has embraced her new life. She often shares pictures on Instagram of the amazing food and leisure activities Korea has to offer.
South Korea has been struggling to contain the Covid-19 virus. Currently, their numbers tally at 8,236 people infected. But, they’ve set up an advanced testing and tracking system that has proved successful in slowing down the rate of infections.
According to Deavan, the outbreak is “bad.” And while people are on alert and stocking up on supplies, it’s nowhere near to the pandemonium that has been documented in stores across America.
90 Day Fiance spinoff 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way successfully drew audiences in with a new premise: have the American partner move to a foreign country. Part of the appeal was watching the U.S. citizen reacting to their new culture and navigating the ways of the country.
For Deavan Clegg, it was the adjustment of living in a small space with husband Jihoon Lee and his parents. Since the show ended, Deavan often shares pictures of her life in Korea. And goodness, the food looks amazing! Unfortunately, the learning curve of living in a new country sometimes has negative consequences as well. Especially when it comes to decisions about body and health issues.
We have made it through the first season of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. Like other shows in the franchise, this version lured me in and got me hooked. I might not have learned anything and my IQ might be 10 points lower for having watched, but boy it was fun. Quality television that delivers!
Out of all the couples on the show, Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee were arguably the most likeable and relatable. Sure, they made some bad decisions, like getting pregnant immediately after meeting, but both seemed to have their hearts, if not their decision-making skills in the right place. One thing I could not figure out during the season was why Deavan was moving to South Korea when she had a job and family in the U.S., while Jihoon was struggling to get by. Deavan recently revealed how she came to the decision to move and her purported reasons behind it are both sad and shocking.
The most recent episode of 90 Day Fiance The Other Way was the conclusion of the two-part finale special. Don’t worry there are still many surprising updates that are uncovered. We also learn where many relationships stand after the season and the Tell All.
