Jake Pavelka shocked a lot of viewers Monday night when he sent home four ladies vying for his heart instead of the three he was required to.

In one episode, he went from having 9 bachelorettes to having his final 5, a first in The Bachelor history. In a new interview with TVGuide, Jake opens up on why he sent 4 women packing, he also discusses Rozlyn Papa and why we can expect the finale to be a shocker.

The latest issue of UsWeekly magazine also claims Rozlyn started her affair with the Bachelor producer Ryan Callahan months before the show actually started filming. Rozlyn has denied this ofcourse. Excerpts from Jake’s interview below -

TVGuide.com: On Monday’s episode, you decide to “clean house.” What prompted that decision?
Jake Pavelka: I’m starting to get close with some of the women, and it’s lulling with some of the others. So I don’t know if Chris [Harrison] would let me do it, but I make some odd requests to break up the protocol of the show and break the standard model that they normally like to follow.

TVGuide.com: How much do you let the some of the women’s opinions about other contestants on the show affect your decisions?
Jake: The most important thing was me. I want to see things for myself. I know what to watch for. They were telling me these things about Vienna. The problem with that is it’s starting to get so out of control, even women like Ali are starting to get into it. It’s like I’ve got 15 minutes with you. Do you really want to throw all these other girls under the bus when you’re spending time with me? I’m seeing some true colors here.

TVGuide.com: Speaking of Vienna, you looked terrified on your bungee jump date. How much of your input goes into planning the dates?
Jake: When we were talking about doing that date, I didn’t have a particular girl in mind. There was some conversation when I heard her say, “I’m so afraid of heights.” I thought, “Uh oh. I know what I’m doing with you.” [Laughs] When the dates get planned, once the girls are cast and everything … I throw some things out there that I’ve done that have really worked out for me in past relationships. Then, they kind of modify it a little bit. So it’s really great getting to be involved. It’s really me.

TVGuide.com: What can you tease for viewers about the end of the season?
Jake: I think the ending is probably going to puzzle a lot of people, and I think some others are going to go, “Ok, yeah. If you look back, you could see this.”

TVGuide.com: Have you been following the Rozlyn scandal in recent weeks?
Jake: She made some terrible decisions. It happens to everybody. This was just a very public one. I hope that she and the staff member are in love, and I expect an invitation to the wedding because it was really costly for the both of them.

My thoughts on the Bachelor so far – This season has been good thus far especially with the whole Rozlyn affair drama. I do get the feeling though that Jake decided early on that he really liked a few women, and therefore did not give some of the other women a fair chance as evident by him sending home 4 women on Monday night.

The big issue this season that keeps coming up is why do the other women hate Vienna so much? Is it jealousy become she has a strong connection with Jake? or is she really just a crappy person and ABC is giving her a good edit? The whole thing seems a bit bizarre. Even sweet and happy Tenley does not like her. With the exception of her telling Jake she wanted to go last for the one on ones during the group’s date in the recent episode, I haven’t really seen a reason for the other women not to like her. I’m guessing we are not getting the whole picture with the editing.

What I am certain of is that Ali has turned me off a lot with her attitude in the last few episodes. Okay we get it, you don’t like Vienna, but geez do you have to talk about her every chance you get? She really needs to let it go and focus on Jake. Plus the whole if Jake picks her, then I plan on having a talk with him was a bit too much. I mean is she Jake’s mommy? Is she going to scold him? I think Ali’s true colors are starting to show, and pretty they are not.
