Bethenny Frankel is dunzo!
The Real Housewives of New York City star has officially quit the show that made her a star, reports the new issue of UsWeekly.
“Last season was scary and painful,” she tells the magazine about the reason she rejected Bravo’s offers to return for season 4, which is scheduled to begin filming on Sept. 20. “It took all of the joy out of it.”
This decision by Bethenny doesn’t exactly come as a shocker as she has another hit show on Bravo, Bethenny Getting Married, a show that doesn’t require her to try to decode the incoherent ramblings of NYC co-star Kelly Bensimon.
Bethenny, who welcomed daughter Bryn Hoppy in May with husband Jason Hoppy tells UsWeekly she doesn’t “see any reason to go back.”
Despite Bethenny quitting the show, viewers can still expect to see her when the 4th season of the NYC Housewives returns. Why? Well a Bravo insider tells UsWeekly that Bethenny is still contractually bound to make a few appearances on RHONY next season, though Bravo is still hoping that she’ll return full-time.
Could money have played a part in Bethenny’s decision? Hollyscoop reported just last week that Bethenny was in negotiations to return to the show. Either way, I can’t say I blame Bethenny. I’m not certain Bravo could pay me enough money to go on vacation with the nutty Kelly and mean girl Jill. I think this will definitely impact the show though. Bethenny not appearing on RHONY would be equivalent to Nene Leakes leaving the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

She looked like she had more fun with her own show, why go back and deal with those other broads.

I think Bethenny made the right choice for her.That’s all that matters really.
If I had to be around Krazy Kelly and Jealous Jill, I’d leave too. They are both nutty. Bethenny made the right choice not wanting to be around the toxicity. Gummy bears, unicorns, and Al Sharpton! Baaaaawwwwby!!!! Yes, I would definitely leave.
Downright depressing. Bravo should’ve canceled the NJ show (which is depressing for whole different reasons) and used the savings to pay Bethenny whatever she wanted (because, let’s face it, if the money were there, she would’ve done it – don’t believe the spin).
I am not surprised at all by this news.
I agree RT you can’t blame Bethenney for quiting it was awful for her and that trip was a disaster. I think she will do fine on her own show…she just needs to change the name to Bethenney & Jason now, something other than B Getting Married since she is already.
So glad she quit RHNY – she has moved so far beyond the crazy, the bitchy, the backstabbing, and the nonsense. I really liked her show and am looking forward to S2.
Good for Bethenny! There is no way I would stick around for more Kelly and Jill either. I loved her show and would rather just watch her there.
I do wish Bravo had fired Kelly though – I cannot stand that woman!
If Bravo wanted Bethenny, they should have fired Kelly. Bethenny made it crystal clear at the reunion and in subsequent interviews that she would be willing to return to RHONY ONLY if there were cast changes, and we all knew what that meant. Bravo had to choose between having Bethenny or having Kelly stay on, and they made their choice with Kelly. I think it’s a bad move for the show.
Will miss Bethenny, but glad she still has her own show. I can’t say I blame her, she’s definitely moved on and being around Kelly & Jill looks downright painful. I wish Bethenny nothing but the best. It was refreshing to watch her life turn into all the things she wished for and how hard she worked to achieve her personal and professional goals.
Thank Goodness, I think this woman is just as crazy as the rest of them! Bethenny has an very dirty, nasty, filthy, loud mouth! Not to mention she looks like an old dried up coon with black hair and droopy eyes! She nevers has anything nice to say about anyone. I be so glad when her ugly mud is off TV forever!
This is the best news I’ve heard all day!!! Thank GOD she is not returning. I’m happy about it.
I still like RHONY, Bethenny isn’t a deal breaker for me.
I don’t blame her, I won’t want to be around Crazy Kelly either. HIIIIIIIIII Ugh, I fast forward every time her manface appears on the screen.
Just wanted to add…I don’t like how she gave ultimatums, basically saying, “It’s either me, or Kelly”, and she would only go back if cast changes were made. As if Bethenny didn’t add to the drama of the show. Since season 1, she’s been the one in the most arguments. Sooooo glad she’s gone! She has a malicious and petty spirit, so I’m thrilled she’s out.
This was an easy and predictable decision.
Being on another season of RHONY that would even remotely resemble the last season would be nothing less than torturous. Even if she stops by RHONY for a few guests spots I hope she is there for support to her old friend Alex who is going to need her, while being stuck filming w/ mean girl Jill.
With that said I can see season 2 of her show “Bethenny Getting Married” already:
She’s a hard working Mom with in a new marriage with a new baby in the fast paced city continuing to build her “Skinny Girl” empire. With help from her intern Max who she belittles and her assistant Julie who she over-works, let’s watch this hard working new mom balance her career and her family…yada yada yada
I personally am happy I don’t really care for Bethanney something about her makes me sick to my stomach. She has a show that folks seem to like let her stay there.
Dyana/Bryan I am with you. Of course I will still watch but I wouldn’t go back to Kelly/luann/Jill insanity if I didn’t have to.
I agree with her decision to take care of herself and her family
She did what is best for her. I’ll watch and see if I enjoy it as much. I cannot imagine the show being as funny without Bethenny.

The reason I enjoyed Bethenny is that many times she vocalized what I was thinking at home. The show will go on without her, but it won’t be as honest.
Nene should not have been given a raise, she should have had her pay cut back , she is a sloth!

Just read Jillously’s comments on RHODC for the Bravo blog. Accordingly, she advocates therapy for Stacie to heal from the ‘rejection’ of her biological parents.
The irony: Jill was loved and raised by her natural parents and yet Stacie (and Bethenny) have proven to be kind, loving, and compassionate. Jill’s written comments is akin to her failed book – a ploy for fame resulting in hypocritical recognition instead.
I think I’d leave as well. No use in trying to figure out Kelly and have Jill want to be her friend- all while talking shit behind her back!

Absolutely!!! I am so sick of her anyway, that its a relief that she is not coming back. The show will do fine without her whining and crying all the time. Also sick of her one line slams.

I can’t stand passive-aggressive people. Just say it! On many of these shows, they’re always tip-toeing around the problems and not being straight about what they want to say– until it comes to the reunion shows and the videos are shown. Then the feelings are hurt of everyone.
Ramona told Bethenny a lot of stuff on that bridge, but Bethenny can’t say that she didn’t know Ramona felt that way. Yes, what Ramona said was harsh, but she told Bethenny to her face!
Good now I don’t have to watch the NY granny cast anymore. So done with these old hags.

I’m still going to watch the show even with Kellamity and Jillousy as part of the cast. I’m hope that Jill will back down and back off of the mean girl act. I really liked her during the first two seasons, even when we saw little blips of her mean girl persona. Maybe now that Bethenny is gone, Jill can move forward.
I will really miss B. on RHONY, the show won’t be the same.
I do think for the sake of her career and her happiness it’s best to leave, though. Doing two shows and trying to run her business and be a wife and mother would be too much, plus she doesn’t need to be overexposed.
Also, it looks like she and Jill are done for good, so if she doesn’t want JZ in her life, why be on a show and have to film with her? And of course she doesn’t want to film with crazy K.
Another year of the feud and two teams, and the show would have become like RHONJ this year – boring.
I think Sonya may make a decent replacement for B.
Valerie is exactly right. If the New Jersey girls get together to have Danielle kicked off the show, what did the New York girls do wrong? Kelly is a total train wreck, had some sort of mental breakdown, and is still on the show? I can’t stand to watch her. Wish they would give her and Teresa a spin-off so they could go talk nonsense to each other and I wouldn’t have to watch anymore.
I’ll still watch w/o Bethenny I like the other NYC housewives. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Sonya.
I’m disappointed. I like Bethenny’s sense of humor and the way she speaks her mind. Since I am an eternal optimist, I was sort of hoping for a reconciliation with Jill. Oh well, I guess with the success of her show and other business ventures she doesn’t need it. It won’t be the same without her, but I will still watch. I don’t know why, but I am addicted to this Bravo housewives junk.

At first I really liked Bethanny. I thought she was smart and witty and funny. Then she just got to be too much. There is witty and snarky and then there is just too mean. A little filter is not a bad thing-you can still be honest and funny. I only saw one episode of her show-they were in Atlantic city and she was walking through a casino. A woman fell and Bethanny said something like “woman down” and kept walking. Yes, she was pregnant and the woman who fell may have been drunk but it just turned me off. I think if Bravo had come through with the money, she would still be on, Kellamity and Jillousy or not! Just my opinion.
I agree that Bethenny can be too snarky at times. I like the fact that she places all of her cards on the table. She doesn’t always have a filter (no kidding), but you know that she is being honest. I think sometimes she is too busy thinking about how to be “funny”, that she doesn’t realize that what she says can be hurtful. I don’t think she usually has any mean intent. I thought she had some good one liners. Kelly is so out there and has lied. Jill is mean, narcissistic, and has lied. Ramona is a roller-coaster for sure, but I think deep down she’s an honest person. She doesn’t always have a filter (NO KIDDING…the “on-the-bridge”comment to Bethenny didn’t have to be so blunt & breast comment to KK…OMG!), that’s for sure…but I think she usually means well. I could take Bethenny and Ramona in medium to small doses. I couldn’t take Krazy Kelly or Jealous Jill in any doses.
I would love to see Teresa and Kelly in the same room. In fact, I think that would be great. I usually can’t understand what either one is saying. Kelly would talk about unicorns, and Teresa would talk about buying one if she could.
@Laura L-good point! Bethenny is probably trying to come up with the next one liner! I agree with you about the rest of the ladies. I don’t think Ramona is intentionally hurtful and Kelly…wow! I am surprised that Bravo brought her back given her behavior last season. That line about Kelly seeing a unicorn and TT trying to buy it-pure comedy genius!! The first season I liked Jill but her behavior has just been mean and childish. I do hope Bethenny and Jason and the baby are happy and healthy.
Staying on the show at this point would be counter productive for Bethenny’s brand. She raised her public profile and is on to the next phase of her 5yr plan
. I’m interested to see where Bethenny takes things. The other women, not so much…
Bethenny made the right decision, but I wasn’t plannng to watch, anyway. If she returns, I’ll watch.
First let me say, I love Bethenny. She is an inspiration to me. However, this is my prediction and personal opinion only. Bethenny is a user. Which is not a bad thing. It’s business.She is a hard worker and worked hard to get where she is. She uses people and situations to get what she wants. Bethenny has what she wants, a baby. I predict, her and Jason will be split in three years. I really hope I’m wrong. To say that it is a ‘problem’ that your husband wants another child and you don’t, should not be viewed as a problem. Marriage is a challenge and worth the effort.
As for season two of Bethenny Getting Married? I was getting pretty bored toward the end of the first season.
NYC housewives, I always thought Ramona and Jill were the main attraction until Jill turned into the mean girl. Not sure I’m tuning back in; still on the fence. I do think Sonya was a great addition. At first I didn’t like her but truthfully she seems to be the only one who’s got her act together.
BRAVO contact me for some great ideas: Nix the NJ housewives. I’d personally like to see what goes on personally and professionally behind the Manzo’s and The Brownstone.
Also BRAVO real housewives don’t have two assistants, and a baby nurse, etc. Realhouswives, drive school buses,work on farms, and shop at WalMart.

The RHONY are my favorite of the HW shows. I will still watch of course, but I think there will be a huge void without B. Even my husband, who doesn’t pay much attention while I am watching, has literally laughed out loud, at some of her one-on-one commentary.

Yesterday afternoon, Bethenny Frankel, 39, announced that she wouldn’t be returning to Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York after three seasons. Eventually, the news got to her ultimate enemy, THE Kelly Bensimon. And in true Kelly fashion, she had a little message for Bethenny:
“Congratulations? I wish you well?”
Ah, I love a good passive aggressive question mark at the end of a statement.

Kelly, 42, who fought with Bethenny all season long, has been rumored to be leaving the show/only working part-time. She cleared up those rumors, saying:
“I was just asked to come back and we haven’t negotiated everything yet,” she clarified. “But I can answer honestly I would either come back or I wouldn’t come back — we don’t do part-time.”
So Kelly doesn’t do part time, or Bravo doesn’t do part time? I’ve gotta admit, I was hoping for a snarky comment from good ol’ Bensimon. Now that Bethenny has some time to spare, maybe she can take a trip back to Scary Island.

Imagine how happy Jill Zarin must be! Only one problem: they don’t have much of a show without Bethenny. She was the heart and soul of that show. Imagine “Sex in the City” without Sarah Jessica Parker. Why? Because Bethenny was the only truly honest one. Alex and Simon were all about the social climbing, Ramona has an occasional burst of batshit crazy, but not enough to carry the show, Jill Zarin is too full of jealousy, malice and hate to be interesting, a true ratings killer, and her family is downright annoying. Kelly Bensimon is too psychotic to be on any show, she should be put away without benefit of keys. That leaves Sonja Morgan to liven things up. Don’t know if she can pull it off. Oh, and LuAnn de Lesseps, so unimportant I forgot her.
