After a trip to Dallas filled with conspiracy theories, stained quilts, and a hurricane that nearly wiped out Cynthia’s tequila gala, the peaches of The Real Housewives of Atlanta have returned home in desperate need of a spiritual intervention. Fortunately, they have Reiki Master Phaedra in their midst.
In The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 8, “A Sound Bath Breakdown,” Phaedra came through with the Reiki, a healing flute, and a pool full of air mattresses ready to fix what ails this group. Spoiler alert: none of it worked.
What happened in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 8?
After returning from Cynthia’s Dallas trip, K. Michelle began revealing more details about the alleged scheme against her. As the divide in the cast deepened, Phaedra decided to put her Reiki expertise to the test and hosted a healing sound bath evening at her home. Naturally, it didn’t go as planned, and Phaedra is going to need more than a little meditation to get some of these women back on the same page.
Kelli is going through it in Season 17
If you thought Pinky was dealing with a lot in Season 17, Kelli is here to remind you that it can always be worse. In Episode 8, she sat down with her mom and grandma, the namesake of Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles, and unpacked everything she’s dealing with.
Of course, most of it we’ve already seen play out in the headlines. Her ex-husband filed court documents to try to prevent their kids from appearing on RHOA. There are a ton of lingering money issues related to her divorce and her businesses. It’s all beginning to take a real toll on her, and it’s hard not to feel for her in these moments.
“I’m really in a financial bind where I can’t figure it out,” Kelli admitted.
When you’re carrying that much stress, it tends to rear its ugly head in other ways. Later in the episode, we see just how much this all affects how she shows up in the group.
The one bright spot? Kelli has a boyfriend. We’ve never seen him, but apparently they’ve been dating for about a year. And for some reason, she’s been referring to him exclusively as “Jarvis.” After Porsha’s accusations about sleeping with married men, the last thing Kelli needs is a man with an alias. But given everything she’s dealing with right now, we’ll give her a pass.
K. Michelle added much-needed context to her conspiracy theory
Slowly but surely, we started getting more details about the alleged plot to take down K. Michelle. Does it all add up to a coherent argument? Absolutely not. But does it at least confirm that she wasn’t just having a full-blown nervous breakdown in Dallas? Sure.
K explained that Porsha used to date a man named Nosh, and if you’re one of the five people who watched Queen’s Court, then you know that name sounds familiar. Nosh is one of the guys who K coupled up with on the show, but apparently, Porsha dated him, too.
Allegedly, Nosh told K. Michelle that Porsha was talking about her, which sparked some of those uneasy feelings in Dallas. The former Love & Hip Hop star felt like Porsha should have given her a heads up that they shared a mutual ex.
On one hand, you can understand where K. Michelle is coming from with this, but at the same time, there’s some seriously unclear logic. Drew isn’t supposed to mention Blakk because that would be disrespectful to K’s brand-new marriage, but Porsha was supposed to tell her about dating one of her exes from years ago? You’ll go cross-eyed trying to follow K’s thought process, but we’re trying our best.
Dipping into Phaedra’s Healing Waters
We all know Phaedra is a woman of many careers, but did anyone else know she was a certified Reiki Master? According to her, she’s been practicing for years, and with the RHOA cast in the state that they’re in, she decided to put those skills to use.
Phaedra planned a “Healing Waters” evening at her home with sound baths, meditations, and an assortment of air mattresses floating in her pool. She also promised a healing flute, so if there’s anyone in the group who can bridge the gap, it’s Phaedra, armed with her healing flute and positive intentions.
Of course, this is RHOA, so nothing went as planned at this event. K. Michelle couldn’t get in the pool due to her health issues. Shamea’s air mattress popped. Cynthia had to leave early to catch a flight away from this circus. Kelli’s mind was bogged down by all of her other issues. Still, Phaedra pressed on, doing her best to channel positive energy into a painfully disjointed group.
For approximately three seconds, it did seem like it worked. The healing waters washed over the group, and they all appeared as if they were feeling the magic of meditation. Then, they sat down for a post-sound bath meal, and all of the good vibes vanished in the blink of an eye.
K. Michelle shared a list of grievances with the group
The singing bowls had barely stopped ringing before K. Michelle decided to address the group about her issues with the group. Specifically, she had a bone to pick with Porsha.
K tried to walk Porsha through it. They got off on the wrong foot in Episode 2 when Porsha called out Kelli for allegedly sleeping with a married man. Strike two was the miscarriage comment. Strike three: Dallas, and the alleged scheme that Porsha and the other girls were cooking up.
“I am told that there is some behind-the-scenes trying to expose me,” K told Porsha.
“Why would I be trying to expose you?” Porsha asked.
Of course, K. Michelle did not have a specific answer for that. You’ll probably have to check Twitter for that piece. Still, the list of grievances continued. This time, pivoting to the Drew and Blakk situation. Drew wasn’t featuring a single second of it, and the two got into yet another heated argument.
“Yodel your ass out,” Drew told K. Michelle. “Obviously, you don’t fit in.”
Kelli and Porsha clashed as the credits rolled
K. Michelle’s final bullet point on her list of things she’s pissed about was the Nosh situation. Porsha rolled her eyes so hard you could almost feel it in your soul. She had checked out of this conversation and told K that at this point, she’s being “too sensitive.”
Porsha felt like K was actively trying to look for something to fight about. Trust and believe, we’ve seen many such cases on these shows, and it does kind of read that way through the screen. Either way, Porsha made it clear: The door is closed on this two-week-old friendship.
Throughout all of the bickering, Kelli had been chiming in on K.’s behalf. Porsha did her best to ignore it until she couldn’t. Things popped off as Phaedra tried to wrap up the conversation.
Phaedra said, “I think what we have established is—”
“That Porsha has f*cked every Nigerian in Atlanta,” Kelli interrupted, slowly raising her wine glass directly into Porsha’s face.
Everyone gasped, security stepped in, and the two were separated before Kelli got a taste of the old Porsha.
The credits rolled as Kelli stormed away from the healing waters. Meanwhile, Porsha started to share more details about who Kelli supposedly slept with after the BET Awards. Allegedly, he’s a preacher, and he may or may not be one of Phaedra’s clients. If any of that is true, we’re definitely going to need a bigger healing flute.
