Following a successful first season on American Idol, judge Jennifer Lopez is revealing she is uncertain about a return to the show next season.
After Wednesday’s finale, Jlo, 41, refused to confirm whether she would sign on for the upcoming 11th season of the show.
“It’s too early to tell,” said Jennifer, who is believed to be in contract negotiations with FOX. Unlike her fellow judges, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler who have multi-year deals with FOX, Jennifer only signed a one year contract for a reported $12 million.
It however seems the FOX network would love to have Jlo back on. “Everyone has multiple-year contracts. Jennifer had [a] single-year contract. We loved having her — the hope and expectation is she’ll return,” FOX chief Peter Rice said earlier this week.
This is all likely a negotiation ploy for Jennifer, who is said to have earned significantly less money from the show than Randy and Steven. Steven reportedly raked in $18 million for his first season alone.
Meanwhile, following the kiss seen around the world during the Idol finale on Wednesday, new winner Scotty McCreery is now responding to the rumors that he is romantically involved with runner-up Lauren Alaina, 16.
So are they an item? “Oh no,” Scotty, 17, said during a conference call on Thursday. “We’ve been getting that question all morning. Me and her – it’s a brother-and-sister relationship.”
So what was up with the kiss? “She told me before the show she was going to [kiss me],” he said. “It was kind of like a joke. She’s a character.” Scotty also added, “We are really close friends. I met her on day one of Hollywood Week.” So there you have it folks! They are just “really close friends.”

I want to see a real judge on that show! Someone who is not just stroking the ego for each contestant. There has got to be some constructive criticism because no way are each of these kids perfect from Day One.

No, I’d rather that she didn’t come back. Her being on the show wasn’t for the show, it was for her comeback. She was washed up and DONE and when she got on the show every other commercial during breaks had her or she was promoting something- usually herself…. I stopped watching after a while since I was getting bored of J Lo Idol.
I agree Shay. She tries way too hard. And has anyone noticed how they NEVER had the judges make an entrance until this season? And when they do make the entrance she’s always the 1st one to turn around and wave at the audience behind the stage so everyone can look at her ass. Yuck…get over yourself honey. You’re not the only one with a big ass in Hollywood anymore. Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Shakira, etc…all have you beat. Old ass. LOL
@2 & 3 – Ditto……J-Ho is very self serving. She is too high maintenance…….I mean she is always in need of a compliment.
When Beyonce was on as a mentor and she wore a tanned short jumpsuit with some black CLs…….the very next day J-Ho showed up in her own version of a short jumpsuit. She is always competiting and never satisfied.
She has never seen a spotlight that she didn’t like.
I really didn’t think she was effective as a judge. She used it to help her very DEAD music career. And I think her coming back will depend on how well it helped her album that was DOA………………
@1 – I agree. I miss Simon too! Idol sucked this year without his realism. Randy, J.Lo and Steven are just blowing smoke up the contestants patooties.
@4 & 5 I totally agree! Scotty wouldn’t have won if Simon was still there. He’s adorable but his voice is pure kareoke. Also, JLo wanted such a comeback and her album FLOPPED! LOL. That’s why she doesn’t know if she’s coming back next season.

She was a snoozefest–and I thought it was very egotistical that the judges made a big entrance on each show–they never did that before (as franskwif3y pointed out).
I got REALLY tired of seeing her pimp herself and her products during the breaks. She’s as bad as these scummy housewives!
JLo is another one obsessed not wanting to leave the stage; her time’s up, her career on the down low. The way she danced to her husband’s performance was vulgar. I agree, she was there to attempt reviving her career as a singer.
Yep!! The judges in previous seasons didn’t make entrances like that because it was about the contestants. This year seriously turned into the JLo Show and it was embarrassing for her. She was even trying to pimp out her ugly husband every chance she got. Good LORD… Even her Venus commercials they showed a couple of times for each show had her KIDS running around… When does the self promotion end?!?!?!?

I agree she sucked as a judge if I had to hear her say you gave me chills one more time I was going to puke get real this was the worst season of Idol I quit watching half way thru and I’ve watched ever season but not anymore the show is crap they need people who can hear and tell the contestant they suck when they suck not everyone was awesome we can HEAR. JLO needs to go back to the block where she belongs!

Haters everywhere…The “J Lo” season was the first one that interested me. I think HR should have won, but she is better off contracting in a third place finish. I loved the program, some parts more than others. To each their own!
Why can’t Idol fine any female black singers in all the cities they visit? Every year when they visit a city they very rarely show black AA singers perform. However, you see as many black, white, hispanic, asian lined up in hopes of being selected. This has gone on for the last 4-5 years. It is very irritating when Idol has black singers such as Ursher mentor, when there are no black singers on the show. I can’t believe that out of all the cities that they visit, they couldn’t find one little black girl that could sing.
I only watch until the people of color are voted off. Idol is a racist show. XFactor is a fair show as it looks for talent no matter what race, just like The Voice, and the Sing Off. When Joshua sang, his voice cracked when he sang from his heart, “what more can I do”.
Randy Jackson is a sorry piece of ####. He is unfair, and does not have a good ear for music. Steven Tyler is a sweetheart, he knows whats going on, he tries to encourage. J-Lo, needs to stay home and practice some new commentsl
Once the swirls are voted off, I will be done as well as my friends. We know Fox is racist. If they let their commentators make racist comments on their shows(Beck, Cunningham)need I say more. Bill Cunningham said disrespectful things about President elect Obama prior to a McCain rally in 2008. Did he apologize? No, but McCain did, as he made it plain that he was not associated with Mr. Cunningham. The world in not all one color anymore. Look around, it’s multicultural. Let’s be fair and give everyone an equal opportunity. Well, the voting acts right was just passed in 1965, maybe some still think the same?
